All of our paper straws meet European standards for packaging in contact with food. The colours used are both neutral in odor and taste. Our paper straws are 100 % clean of chlorine, lead, and plasticisers.

Sharp and recognisable print

You can choose between two printing methods for your paper straws: tampon print and offset-print. There is a quite a difference between the two printing methods as we with tampon print can offer up to 2 colours on your paper straws, whereas we with offset print, can print up to 4 colours. We use Pantone colours, which allows you to choose between 10 colours and we have yet to experience that these colours did not fulfill our customers’ need. In case you request a very specific colour, we can order this home as well. We offer the following standard colours; navy-blue, process-blue, water-blue, green, yellow, orange, red, pink, violet and black.

The colours are put on a layer by layer, to ensure that print is easily recognisable. You are therefore guaranteed that your paper straws are going to look clear and sharp, so your customers will remember you in the future. We also help you create your design completely free-of-charge, and we will, of course, send you a 3D-preview of to your approval before your straws are sent to production.

How is the print made?

Tampon print

The two-printing method means a lot in terms of the final result of your paper straws. However, is important to stress that both methods ensure a high-quality print. Tampon print is used to print on concave and convex surfaces, which means that the tampon print is added after the straws have been folded. The print is only being put on top of our full-colour straws; green, white and black. Applying the print after the straws have been rolled together allows your motive or logo to be placed dead straight on the straws and you can still get to choose between all background colours.

Offset-print

We cooperate with a manufacturer of paper straws, who always develop their manufacturing and printing process of the paper straws. We, therefore, have the possibility to deliver paper straws that can be printed with offset-print. The special thing about offset-print is, that the paper is printed before they are rolled into a paper straw, and the print, therefore, consistently follows the wrapped paper. This means that no matter where your customer looks on the paper straws, they will be able to see you and your print. This ensures a quite unique, yet elegant print. You do not have to worry about whether your logo will be portrayed perfectly clear on your paper straws with logo. At Limepack, we put a virtue in providing total freedom in your design process!

The sustainable solution

Climate change and the environment have gradually taken on an important role in the awareness of both legislators, consumers and companies – and with good reason! As a result, the EU has chosen to prohibit certain disposable items, including plastic straws, from 2021. We have therefore found a manufacturer who can supply paper straws of the same quality, we know from the plastic straws and at the same time being environmentally friendly. The manufacturer we work with is situated in the EU, which means that less CO2 is being emitted during transportation.

100% compostable paper straws

As the name indicates, all our straws are made of 100% paper as well as food approved glue. This means that our paper straws are compostable, both in nature as well as in composting facilities, however, the process goes a lot faster in composting facilities. It takes about 6 months for our paper straws to be decomposed in saltwater, while the process will take only 1-2 months if the paper straws are decomposed in composting facilities. We do, however, stress that paper straws should still be thrown in the trash can and not just tossed in nature. Order your new paper straws with a good conscience at Limepack!

Cocktail paper straws with logo

We do not reveal any secrets when saying that this size is mainly used for cocktails in smaller cocktails cups. They fit perfectly into the bar in the hotel lobby or the well-assorted bar with a large selection of cocktails. Since the length of our paper straws is slightly longer than the glass, it can also be used instead of a stir stick, so you can kill two birds with one stone. We offer you two different background colours for your straws: black and white.

Standard paper straws with logo

Our standard size paper straws with logo are the most popular among our customers. They are mainly used for soft drinks, iced coffee and other soft drinks making them perfect to bring along on the go. The ‘Standard’ paper straw with print comes in two different lengths allowing you to use them in cup sizes from 240 ml up to 500 ml, without wasting precious time on manually finding straws that fit each specific size. The diameter of the straws is the normal width known from normal plastic straws, allowing your customers to still consume your drink in moderate amounts. It is not only the size that varies, but you also determine the background colour of your straws. You can choose between black and white as default colours. If you are in doubt about what size and layout suit the straws, please do not hesitate to contact us on +45 60 16 30 40.

Jumbo paper straws with your own logo

Our jumbo size paper straws are significantly larger than standard paper straws which makes them perfect for milkshakes, bubble tea and/or fruit juice. The ‘Jumbo’ paper straws fit the size of 8 oz (240 ml) and 12 oz (350 ml), which means that ‘Jumbo paper straws’ fits a lot better to 16 oz (450 ml) and 20 oz cups (550 ml). You can benefit from the fact that our jumbo straws with print come in two background colours for all of our sizes; black and white. The extra size of the jumbo paper straws makes it possible to enlarge your logo, increase brand awareness and consequently drive sales.

We have a minimum number of 5,000 pcs. by simple print and a minimum of 35,000 pcs with full-colour print.

The story behind paper straws with print

If one would not know better, considering paper straws as a quite new invention would be obvious because of the high consumption of plastic straws. However, this is not the case as paper straws were first commercialised back in 1890, where mass-production of paper straws took place. However, they were all of the low quality, and therefore got replaced during the industrialisation for the benefit of plastic straws. This choice has had severe consequences for wildlife in the oceans. Hence, the whole market is now switching from plastic straws back to paper straws, hoping to turn tides on these negative effects and prevent climate damage.

How about the production?

When the production of paper straws first began, the layers of paper were cut into strips and then twisted around a stand while gluing them together. It thus becomes a long straw, which is then cut into the wanted length. The way we produce paper straws today is very similar to this process. However, we have gained access to better glue, thicker paper, and better production facilities. This means that it has become easier to put several layers of paper on top of each other, which ensures increased durability when drinking through the straws.

How about the print?

Printing only with standard tampon print has been common practice for several years. The print was hereby applied after the straws were rolled. However, there has recently been a great deal of development of paper straws, which has also made it possible to print straws with offset-print, where the print is applied before the paper is rolled up to the paper straws. Easily order your personalised paper straws with imprint at Limepack!

Customisable in all thinkable ways

As the paper straws are produced in longer pieces and cut afterward, the length of the straws is incredibly flexible. The diameter of the paper straws depends on the thickness of the rod around which the strips are twisted. This gives the opportunity to customise the paper straws with print to your desired sizes that perfectly match your beverages. However, it is a bit more expensive to place an order for a straw diameter that is outside the standard selection of sizes due to an additional start-up and administration fee.

What is up and down in terms of plastic vs. paper straws?

There is constantly talks about the relationship between plastic and paper packaging, regardless of the discussion is about bags, cups or straws. But what is really up and down when it comes to the environmental consequences of plastic straws versus paper straws?

Animal life

Let’s start by stating the obvious – the oceans. A group of researchers has estimated that an astonishing 8,3 billion plastic straws are laying at the beaches around the world. As they are plastic straws they will not dissolve, unless manually removed by human beings. In case this would have been 8,3 billion paper straws, these would have been degraded over a short period of time. In this regard, the dissolving of our paper straws takes approximately 6 months.

Environment

The impact that plastic straws have on the environment will to a large extent depend on the consequences the various straws have on Mother Earth’s raw materials. In this regard, paper straws have a higher impact on nature as the trees have to be cut down to be transformed into paper, whereas plastic is made from oil. There is no precise answer in terms of what is worse, but a qualified guess will probably be the plastic straws because oil, in Europe, is a more limited resource than trees.

Climate

It is primarily in the production that the two types of straws emit the most CO2. In this regard, the paper straws have a greater impact on the climate than plastic straws. The reason for this is that paper straws have a longer production process than that of plastic straws. When making paper straws, the trees must be cut, processed and then made to paper before the process of finally making the paper straws can take place. The process of plastic straws is somewhat shorter since they are molded directly from the oil extract, Nafta.
